# Use SmartReply with an AI assistant

SmartReply helps ecommerce teams manage AI replies, comments, moderation and customer support. An assistant can discover the product and setup links publicly. Reading or changing a company account requires a separate authenticated connection.

## Public discovery

The public MCP endpoint is https://app.smartreply.io/api/mcp/public. It uses Streamable HTTP with JSON responses and requires no token. Initialize the connection, list tools, then call `get_smartreply_onboarding` with an empty object. The tool returns product information and links. It does not create accounts, start trials, create checkout sessions or charge cards. It cannot access customer conversations or settings.

The catalog is https://smartreply.io/.well-known/ai-catalog.json. The website also exposes a read only setup links tool to browsers that support WebMCP. Ordinary links remain available in other browsers.

## Create an account and complete setup

1. Open https://app.smartreply.io/register/choose to create an account, or https://app.smartreply.io/login to sign in. A browser assistant can help navigate the forms when its platform permits it. The user completes identity verification, credentials and required agreements in the browser.
2. Select the company you are authorized to manage. New accounts must complete the applicable plan or trial setup before account features are available. SmartReply does not provide a general free account plan.
3. Review current plans at https://smartreply.io/pricing. Existing users can open https://app.smartreply.io/dashboard/billing/billing after signing in with billing permissions. This is an account page, not a checkout session. Use the app to review the selected plan, amount, billing period and trial terms before confirming payment through the supported payment provider.
4. Continue at https://app.smartreply.io/dashboard/setup and connect your channels using their provider authorization screens. Setup may require completing plan activation first.
5. Return to your assistant and connect the authenticated MCP endpoint using OAuth.

Do not send passwords, full card numbers, security codes or provider credentials to chat or MCP tools. Opening a link is not confirmation that an account, subscription or integration was created. Verify the result in the app. Agents must follow their host platform's purchasing rules; this guide does not change those rules or imply marketplace approval.

## Connect an existing account

Use https://app.smartreply.io/api/mcp with OAuth authorization code and S256 PKCE. Account access is bound to the signed in user and company. Tools enforce the user's current permissions. This endpoint does not permit anonymous account access.

The server publishes authorization metadata at https://app.smartreply.io/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server and resource metadata at https://app.smartreply.io/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource. Compatible clients handle sign in and refresh tokens. Public discovery is a separate endpoint and cannot authorize account operations.

See the [connection guide](https://help.smartreply.io/article/connect-ai-assistants-mcp) for supported clients and setup. Not all assistants support the same OAuth client registration or browser capabilities.
